Background

Pleased to meet you! My name is Lizette Mynhardt (HardtFit, now it all makes sense!), but you can call me Liz. I’m originally from the prairies of a small-town called Outlook in Saskatchewan, but left home to pursue a career in performance art. After 4 years of studying theatre, film, and voice at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, SK), Sheridan College (Oakville, ON), and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC), I completed my ACE Personal Trainer certification.

I began my career in the fitness industry as a contracted private trainer, children’s physical literacy coach, and DrumFIT instructor/choreographer. This was originally a pursuit intended to support performing, but quickly transformed into a full-time passion. I launched the business “Like A Girl”(LAG) shortly after the pandemic hit in 2020. Originally, I hoped to teach women to love their bodies for their strengths rather than appearances. Over time, the variety of my clients grew and I learned my philosophies could extend outside of solely women. Thus, HardtFit was born.

Philosophy

HardtFit programs are designed with the belief that fitness should come from a place of balance. Focusing on extrinsically motivated goals rather than what it means to truly take care of yourself can negatively affect your feelings towards exercise. You should squat so you can hike up a mountain, not fit into tight clothing. You should run so you can keep up with your kids or grandchildren on the playground, not drop the number on the scale.

My goal is to help clients approach exercise with an attitude of self-care. I always say that moving your body should feel as inadmissible as taking a shower or brushing your teeth. Let’s find how you love to move while erasing the pressure, guilt, and anxiety that can stem from rigid rules and damaging standards. Switch the focus back to where it matters most: your quality of life.

Physical fitness is the gift that keeps giving back. What can your body do and where can it take you? I want to help you find out, but let’s start with the basics: creating a balanced, healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity.
